Altus celebrates 42 years
This October, Altus celebrates 42 years of achievements and dedication, firmly establishing itself as one of Brazil’s leading names in industrial automation technology. Since its foundation on October 26th, 1982, the company has journeyed through more than four decades, consistently delivering innovation, quality, and resilience. This path, marked by technological breakthroughs and strong solutions, has positioned Altus as a competitive force both in Brazil and internationally.
The impact of Altus’ work speaks for itself: today, around 35% of Brazil’s oil and gas production relies on Altus technology, as does 20% of the electrical power generated and used nationwide. And this influence extends well beyond Brazil’s borders. Altus products are now in use in more than 40 countries, supporting a wide range of industries and applications. With many milestones behind us, the future holds even greater potential. Altus is committed to staying on this path of success and innovation, with our trusted partners and clients who make this growth possible.
Thank you for being a part of this journey so far! Together, we look forward to taking on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Milestones over the years
For the past 42 years, Altus has faced and overcome some of the most complex challenges in the industry. From the depths of the Amazon rainforest to open seas and harsh, icy conditions, we have overcome each test. One of our standout projects was the Urucu-Manaus pipeline, an impressive 662-kilometer line stretching through the Amazon. Another key achievement was the modernization of the Paulo Afonso Hydroelectric Complex in Bahia, a major source of power for Brazil.
Perhaps our most demanding project was the automation of Petrobras` Pre-Salt oil platforms. These platforms, which operate with Altus technology, drive much of Brazil`s oil and gas production. The project’s complexity was heightened by the fact that some units were constructed and commissioned in China, requiring our engineers to be highly adaptable, navigating international domain and diving into different cultural and linguistic environments.
Today, we continue to broaden our reach, taking on new challenges across transportation, water treatment, power, mining, agribusiness, food production, and more, while advancing our growth and international expansion.
Altus’ global expansion: bringing innovation to the world
International markets have long been a part of Altus’ story. Since our first export to Germany in 1988, Altus products have found a home worldwide. In recent years, we have ramped up these efforts, establishing a stronger presence in Europe and South America, expanding operations in West Asia, building up our channels in North America, and entering Oceania.
Today, Altus programmable controllers and other products are present in countries such as Sweden, the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, Kazakhstan, China, India, and many others. In 2023, we achieved a new export record, reflecting the strength of our growth strategy despite a global environment still recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Investing in the future: the key to sustained growth and innovation
Altus has always believed that innovation fuels growth. That’s why consistent investment in research and development (R&D) remains one of our top priorities. In 2024, we are on track to make our largest R&D investment to date, which is essential for creating new solutions and enhancing existing products.
Among our latest innovations is the NextoLogger, Altus’ first product featuring LoRa technology, as well as advancedcommunication and security features in our Nexto Xpress controllers. These developments reaffirm our commitment to delivering high-impact, cutting-edge solutions for each of our clients and partners.
Looking to the future, Altus remains firm in its mission to shape the landscape of industrial automation in Brazil and beyond. As we celebrate 42 years, we stand ready to embrace new challenges and reaffirm our role as an industry leader, equipped for whatever the future holds.
