Digital supervision and control system for hydroelectric plants.
Altus offers an innovative solution for modernizing the digital supervision and control systems in hydroelectric power plants and stations. Leveraging state-of-the-art technology, our solution delivers enhanced efficiency, safety, and reliability in managing these critical facilities.
Equipped with advanced automation tools and robust RTUs, we provide intelligent, integrated process management to ensure continuous operation and optimized energy output.

Discover how our solution can improve your hydroelectric power generation unit:

High-Availability Control
Our typical UAC topology includes a central HX rack with redundant power supplies and CPUs, communicating via DNP3 protocol. Additional racks with HX Series I/O modules manage data collection and control field instruments, ensuring high availability and performance

Distributed systems
The system features thousands of I/O points distributed across conventional or pressurized remote panels, all connected to process instrumentation through field networks. This setup ensures comprehensive control and data collection across the plant

Remote Supervision and Control
Our solution offers a sophisticated Remote Supervision and Control system that ensures precise operation and efficient monitoring. With Ethernet and DNP3 communication, IRIG-B synchronization, and support for MODBUS-RTU, it guarantees high reliability and performance

Reliable Communication Networks
The topology incorporates a dual redundant ring network to maximize availability. Special switches with dual optical ports interconnect the rings, ensuring that the plant continues operating through the redundant ring in the event of a failure on one side
Services provided with the DCS system.
– Delivery of executive and software design projects
– Software project implementation
– Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and field commissioning
– Training for maintenance and operations staff
– Full documentation, including updates reflecting the new system implementation

Equipment Provided with the DCS
– Comprehensive SCADA system (including screens, commands, reports, alarms, and event center)
– Switches for the dual optical ring network
– Synchronization relays for substation lines
– Standard 19" rack-mounted servers
– Integration with water intake UACs via single-mode fiber optic cables, including spares, using the IEC 104 protocol

Exceptional Robustness and Performance with HX Series RTUs
Built in accordance with international standards IEC 61850 and IEC 61131-3, the Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) from the HX Series are perfectly suited for managing power generation, transmission, and distribution processes.
The series products feature standout functionalities, such as redundant power supplies, redundant CPUs in a rack, DNP3 and IEC 61850 (MMS and GOOSE) protocols, and compliance with ONS submodule 2.7.
With an extremely rugged design, HX RTUs are built to operate in harsh environments, including areas with mechanical vibrations or extreme temperatures. Their immunity to electrostatic discharges and electromagnetic interference makes them well-suited for use in power plants and near high-voltage equipment.

Featured Projects
Paulo Afonso Complex
The company also supplied the acquisition and control systems, assembly and disassembly of medium voltage equipment and cubicles. With the modernization, it is possible to manage the complex through a centralized operations room and the CHESF Operations Center in Pernambuco. Thus, analyses and decision-making can be done in real time.

Featured Projects
Nilo Pecanha HPP
In 2016, Light Energia began modernizing the plant’s Digital Supervision and Control System using Hadron Xtorm technology. The project encompasses control and data acquisition logic, alongside a new supervisory system, which also extends control and monitoring capabilities to COG Light in Rio de Janeiro.
